Fall Capsule Wardrobe| DIY Pleated Skirt & Cropped Top

Hey Gems! Fall is here and its absolutely one of my favorite times of the year! If you've been following on social media, we are still creating pieces to add to our Fall Capsule Wardrobe. If you haven't started it's not too late. Now that the weather is actually trying to get cool, we need to amp things up a little! We have our essential wrap dress, a couple of bodysuits, one statement jacket but, we still have quite a few pieces left to add.

This pleated skirt in particular, is so simple and quick to make you don't even need a pattern. Actually, the fabric was purchased from Walmart's 2 for $4 bundles. The fabric was pre-pleated which saved on time. All I needed to do was measure, cut and sew. These pleated skirts seem to have been pretty popular this past spring and I have even seen quite a few for the Fall different lengths. They are so versatile, chic and easy to wear.

A couple things to be careful of when picking out pleated skirts, make sure the pleats are not too thick if you are pear shaped or else it will add volume to your hips. Also, if you are going for shorter lengths make sure the hem stops at the smallest part of your legs so that it is more flattering.

I love these skirts and have had them in different lengths through out the years. I really think this is a timeless piece that can be carried into different seasons depending on the color.

For the top, I went for your classic turtleneck with a three quarter length sleeve. I made it in a cropped version because personally I like to wear quite a few high waisted bottoms and the cropped version stops at the smallest part of my waist so that I don't look so boxy. I modified Butterick Pattern 5260 that I have had in my stash for quite a while. It was perfect for this look!

This Jacket is from J. Crew! I figured I'd mix this Diy look up with a ready made piece that I already had in my closet. It's a great shape and fits well in my color pallette for the Fall capsule!

This is definately, a look I would put together without a second thought. These are easy pieces, stylish and comfortable. The best part is I can wear my converse! 😁👍
