Love & Lace
Updated: Jul 16, 2020
Hello Gems! Valentine's Day is tomorrow and Ive been celebrating all week long with this Valentine's Themed Wardrobe Series. Ive fallen in love with each piece that Ive created for this series. Each piece enhances the next! But how could I pull of a Valentines Series with out a little lace?? I mean I would literally be committing style crimes just by leaving this little piece on the table.
First off, I picked this lace up at my local Walmart. Its a beautiful mauvey pink stretch lace. And I used a satin polyester for the collar and the cuff. I went into this project so sure of what I was going to create . I revisited McCalls pattern 7834. This is a pattern I had already made before but the fruits of that labor never made it to social media! I like this version better anyhow... just sayin! 😏
This dress could easily be layered over and under to create different looks! It is definately a transparent lace and could use a slip or something layered underneath for colder weather or just out of modesty. I actually wore a pair of pink bikini swimsuit bottoms I made over the summer because they matched perfectly. Honestly, I was a little unsure of how this would go over in photo but after shooting in the cold with only lace and underwear it soon became the least of my problems!
This was a straight forward pattern and I loved it just as it was so, I made no additions or alterations to the pattern. If I had more of this lace I would have made the longer version. I believe this was all of 3 yards that I purchased. But the more tiers the better right? I mean let the multi layers of gathered fabrics rain down. Lately a maxi dress has been my go to but I settled for a midi on this one and couldn't have been more happy with the results.
I styled this look with brown accessories instead of black which went along with my red, pink, white and black Valentines theme. However, the brown and mauve seemed to be a stronger combo. My shoes are glitter leopard print platform sandals. A fun neutral to play on the rich brown belt. This is a classic yet edgy look I'm absolutely crazy for! Get yourself some lace guys rather its DIY or ready made! You won't regret it.
Until next time!
