Measure Fabric Feature: Super Flare Bottoms for Spring & Summer

Hello Gems! For my third fabric feature with Measure Fabric this month I created a two piece with the beautiful Sateen Bow Fleur Ottoman print fabric. This fabric made a great pair of super flare bell bottom pants and cropped top. At first glance there were so many ideas for what to create with this fabric but in the end these 70’s inspired bell bottoms and matching cropped tops won out. I'm just a true 70’s girl at heart!

I used Vogue pattern V1640 to make the pants. It’s becoming one of my favorite pant patterns lately. This is my second pair and I definitely have plans to make another pair soon. They are high waisted semi fit to super flare bell bottoms. Vogue patterns are great for their construction and techniques for creating quality garments. This pattern was pretty easy to follow yet, I do recommend it for more intermediate to experienced sewists due to the waistband construction technique offered in this pattern.

I created a crop top with the pieces of fabric I had left over. I found Vogue Pattern V9320 a great pattern for scrap busting and whipping up this cute summer worthy mid-driff baring top. It doesn’t take much fabric and it is a quick make, with the tie back closure option I whipped up in place of the original closure and the shoulder ties. The ties give me a little more control over the fit of the top and it's easier to get in and out of.

I had so much fun creating this look and I was even more excited to mix it up with the bustier I created from my very first Measure Fabric feature with the Window Pane Fabric. I'm loving the way these pieces compliment each other.

I love mixing and matching and I look forward to sharing more great combos with my new super flare bell bottoms and all the great pieces created from my Measure Fabric! To see more of these looks don’t forget to follow me on Instagram daily!

Until Next Time! Marcia💋
