Mood Fabrics Batiste Summer Favs

Summer has definately turned up the heat and that means choosen fabrics that breathe and keep you cool! Luckily, Mood fabrics includes a large selection batiste fabrics in bold prints and colors. Second to Poplin fabrics, bastiste has to be one of my top favs for summer garment making.

It's no secret that these fabrics are lightweight and airy, with a soft subtle drape depending on the blend. I chose three different prints in two different batiste blends from Mood Fabric selection to create a few Summer pieces to add to my wardrobe, and I love the way each piece turned out.

From Moods New Exclusive Line I chose Down the Rabbit Hole Rayon Batiste. This is a beautiful contrasting black and white check print that is somewhat geometric and psychedelic at the same time. Its a very cool print and in the classic black in white it lends many pairing options. I created Butterick pattern 6880 top and Simplicity skirt pattern 8388 with this fabric. For the top I added ties to the hem of the top to wrap around the waist as a style option. This is a popular styling trend that I personally love this time of the year when we are showing a bit more skin than thw cooler months. I believe its a cool and easy way to upgrade a crop top and make it a little trendier at the same time. For my bottoms I went with a pattern that I was familiar with and that has become one of my go to skirt patterns when I know I will be pairing it with other pieces. I absolutely love how these pieces came out individually, so of coarse I decided to mix it up.

I created Just Patterns Laetitia wrap skirt with Moods Gamboge and Green Floral Organic Viscose Batiste. This is a panel printed fabric but I love it. I wanted to make sure I used the fabric in a way that didn't make it look paneled, too boxy and put together. I think the pattern is even more appealing and interesting when the panel is mixed up like a jigsaw puzzle.

I created the Laetitia Wrap skirt earlier this Summer and fell in love with it. It gives such a carefree feel too it and depending on what you match it with it can go beach side to night out which makes it a great Summer Resort travel piece. I love this pattern with an added ruffle on the hem. It makes it even more fun! It made a great piece to mix with my previous Mood Batiste look.

For my next Batiste selection I went with Mood Fabrics Orange Pineapple Printed Organic Viscose Batiste. I created a pair of Boho inspired Summer pants using McCalls Pattern 8098. Ive been wanting to make this pattern for a while now and Ive had it in my stash waiting on the perfect fabric to try it out.

This is a fun comfortable pair of pants that are a must for easy going comfort in the summer. They are pretty simple to make and they have these beautiful layers of ruffles that are so on trend for Summer looks.

I paired it with one of my favorite easy going Summer tops keeing the styling Simple and casual.

Batiste Viscose and Rayon blends give great movement and work so well for blouses, Summer dresses and skirts when you want to look cute but feel like a grecian goddess wrapped in fine silks and flowy kaftans. Honestly, thats the Mood... Just sayin! Definitely the summer vibes I want to get into.

Until Next Time!
