Hello Gems! Who’s in the Mood for florals? Spring has sprung and floral prints are blooming from seam to seam and just in time to share a couple of Mood Fabric makes. For the month of March I wanted to share some of the prints that sing spring for me! From familiar florals, bold neutrals and refreshing color palettes.
Florals in the Spring…It's not groundbreaking, I know, but the warm weather started to peek just a little and I suddenly started getting spring fever and everything that comes with it. It was the perfect chance for me to finally create Mood Fabrics Poppy Dress pattern! I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to create this look and Mood’s Exclusive Pink Lily Pad Paradise Sustainable Viscose was just asking for an introduction to the Poppy pattern.
I only made a couple of hacks to personalize this look. I transformed the dress into a two piece because I knew I would definately want to re-mix the pieces later. I added a shirred waist band to the bodice top and created a stand alone belt tie. The fabric is very lightweight and drapey so in order to maintain the puff in the sleeve I added light weight netting for structure. I absolutely love the way this look turned out and the fabric is so gorgeous and dreamy!
It wouldn’t be spring without sharing one of my favorite neutral prints! Leopard print is such a universal classic, and one of the boldest neutral prints! I absolutely love leopard print and Mood’s Exclusive Caramel Predator’s Pride Cotton is no exception. Its light weight has a slightly crisp hand and still holds a little drape. Love the way this fabric sews up!
I felt like McCalls New spring pattern 8175 captured the essence of the fabric perfectly! It’s a little edgy, sleek but keeps a classic shape that is figure flattering and fluid. Perfect for a leopard print fabric such as this. I only made two hacks to personalize this look and that was adding a puff sleeve and tie closure to the back of the bodice. As for styling, I kept it simple and let the print speak for its self. I added a pop of color with my bag and kept my shoes low key for this one but, this look can be dressed up with a great pair of strappy heels!
For my final look this month I went with my favorite contrast, black and white! There is something refreshing about black and white and I think it is a great palette for spring! Sometimes you just have to clear the palette ! Mood’s Exclusive Turtledove daring impressions created a beautiful contrast against this off white natural background. The linen is lightweight and a bit translucent under certain light. I don’t have many linen pieces in my closet but this fabric just may have swayed my future fabric choices. The quality of this linen is so lush and drapey!
I used Simplicity Jumpsuit pattern 8426 to create this look! I made it into a two piece and created a skirt instead of pants. For the bodice I added tie closure to the back! I love the look ties bring when added to the back of spring and summer pieces! They are easy to apply and manage and it adds a little something to an otherwise plan back. I love the way these pieces turned out and I already have ideas of re-mixing them in my wardrobe.
